What I Wore: Slacks for the Office

In the office, I love to wear dresses. They’re easy to style, one piece, and are pretty inexpensive from Goodwill (under $10). However, sometimes I like to amp up the boss lady in me and rock a pair of business slacks with cute oxfords.

A few weeks ago, I stopped into one of the local DC Goodwill stores and hit the petite jackpot in the pants section! Someone donated their already-hemmed petite vintage slacks in all colors and styles! Within this haul, I also snagged a gray lined vintage work slack, perfectly hemmed to my height.

I’ve actually been on a bit of a pant kick lately because they are more comfortable for me than rocking a tight skirt. As you’ve seen on the blog, I’ve been wearing patterned pants more frequently…now you know why! 🙂 Comfort is key.

When purchasing these, I had a feeling they’d be great for the office when worn with my LOFT top and funky oxfords.

To complement the gray wool, I wore a sheer, plaid top from the LOFT (also spotted at Goodwill). I love the pattern on this shirt; the dark colors of the fabric contrasted nicely against the light gray.

To break up the subtle tones, I popped in a vintage gold belt to add my signature glitz and retro touch.

Finally, to bring this look to the finish line I wanted to add a pop of bright color. I slid on a pair of my favorite comfy brown and bright red oxfords by Cole Haan. The reds in these shoes went well with the dark reds in my top, without being too out of place and random.

My outfit consisted of:

Sheer Collared Plaid Shirt: LOFT under $6 –  Gaithersburg Goodwill

Vintage Lined Gray Slacks: No brand, Under $5 – Rockville Goodwill

Gold Belt: Vintage, $.99 – Gaithersburg Goodwill

Brown and Red mesh Oxfords: Cole Haan

Outfit total (Goodwill items): $11!

Talk about a steal! Each vintage item in this look would have cost at least $20 at other boutiques.

What do you think of my look, fashionistas? How would you have styled these slacks?
